The Chrome Soft Revolution Continues: Woodland and Perez Put It In Play

Jeff Newton

The low compression Chrome Soft Golf Ball made headlines when Kenny Perry and Sam Saunders put it in play at the Sony Open, Phil Mickelson took it to another level when he used it at the Humana Challenge, and the momentum has just gotten bigger and bigger.

This week, you can add Gary Woodland and Pat Perez to the lineup of players who are using a Chrome Soft on Tour. It’s an impressive list that also includes Sandra Gal and Morgan Pressel among the long list of Tour Pros who are using it inside the ropes.

Our own @hashtagchad was at Torrey Pines on Tuesday and got the story on why the low compression ball has been so popular:

Pat Perez, Callaway Tour Pro: “It’s really great with the long irons…great feel around the greens…with a lot of distance. It’s going to be a great ball.”

Dean Teykl, Callaway Tour Manager: “So far the feedback has been fantastic. We’ve heard everything from ‘awesome’ to ‘this is unbelievable’…so we’re really excited.”
